This stuff is slowly got a hold of the right side of the tank. It is only on rocks, I am not sure if its algae or type of sponge. It is like golden in color and has a yellowish hue to it and is fluffy and scrapes of in little balls and won't come off easily. The stuff is slowly spreading.

Does it have little tine holes in it? It sounds like encrusting sponge. I have some on one of my rocks. It feels sorta like jelly to the touch.

It seems to be growing in the light, suggesting it's photosynthetic. Can you get a pic with a good, sharp focus? Best guess is encrusting sponge. Looks cool to me!

Different sponges have different textures, and so do algae. It could be an encrusting, photosynthetic sponge, or algae.

Another pic?

I will try to get some more pics later when I get home. Someone told me it might be fungus, does fungus grow in the light like that?

You know, fungus occurred to me too, but I don't know much about them. If you can provide a sharp image, that would help a lot.
