hi i bought a flower pot about a month ago and everything going well and then the strange thing happen i move it in the aquarium and the clowns begun to bother it like if they are eating from it and the flower pot just closed and didnt want to open again ,i move it agan but the clown again attack ,it is some kind of food or animal that live in the flower pot that the clowns eat and i dont see it ,or any method to make the clowns to leave it in peace?

My clownfish does the same thing to all flowerpot coral or anything resembling an anemone, he is not eating from it, just hosting to that flowerpot like clowns do to sea anemones. I had to return a large flowerpot coral rock to my fish store for store credit because it wouldn't leave the coral alone. As soon as I had gotten back from the store, my clown moved on to the other smaller flowerpot that I have in my tank. Nothing you can really do short of returning it or covering it with eggcrate or something that would prevent your clown from swimming in it while still allowing light and water flow through. That kind of defeats the purpose of having the coral in my opinion though, makes it hard to see and looks silly in the tank.

My clowns ended up hosting my goniopora to death, it was damaged by their movements and stopped eating, just my experience.

X2, I was away for 2 weeks and my wife said my black clowns started hosting it. I was happy till I got home only to realize the tentacles were hardly open. I caught them and the coral only survived 3-4 wks after that. I traded in the clowns after that. was one of my prettiest corals.
