Goniopora Pandoraensis

John Kelly

Goniopora Aficionado
Something subconsciously called me to the lfs yesterday after work. It was kind of stuffed in the rocks near the back of the tank. The store owner called it an "Alveopora"........

The heads are small, but I'm anxious to watch it grow.

sweet looking colony?
Yes! A small jewel it will be.

I need to get it browned up a little bit and get it growing. In three or four weeks it will look completely different. :D

There are 24 tentacles surrounding the mouth of each polyp instead of 12. Alveopora have 12, Goniopora have 24.

Wow what a differance a few weeks can make!! It looks VERY happy! What do you feed it??
Thanks salt.

Updated pic taken yesterday. My Rabbitfish likes to sleep in it at night. He also tries to pick the food out of it when I feed so I have to guard it closely. It is placed in a medium-low water flow area and although it is under metal halide lighting, it is placed where the lighting is not super intense.

Sorry for the junk on the glass in the lower left corner. I need to move the coral out a little bit to get to it.
