hey i just picked a large pink goniopra any suggestions about keeping it

After i bought it i found out it is hard to keep i hope someone has a expert opinion about keeping it thanks

Welcome to Reef Central ! I have some great articles on gonioporas if you would like to read them. Is your tank new? If so..what size is it,and what type of lighting do you have? It will need to be directly fed. I have 4 gonioporas and an alveopora. the green Stokesi are the hardest to keep, and sold most often. Here is my pink.

that's a beautiful pink goni. i bought the green one, is it stokesi. it won't open up at first, then i changed to mh and put the goni on top. it seems to be doing better.
how do i maintain it to the max? i put phytoplex and microvert three times a week in my tank. it's about 4 months old.
thanks for any advice.

Wooo there now...

Move that Goni to the bottom ASAP, MH is WAY to strong for these corals...

If he is opening more up top, its probably due to better water movement or something

They dont need or like that much light...

I stongly suggest getting some DT's Phyto and start dosing with it...

Also some Oystereggs to great too...

All that Kent this and Kent that Preserved crap should better be left at the store... OR BETTER, in your trashcan!

JenNKerry also have another food, which Is preserved, but they have great sucess with it, try and get in touch with them

they target feed only I believe

Im useing DTs phyto and Oystereggs, And Ive noticed alot more growth with these products with my corals.. and just not only the Goniopora either!

I've had a green Goni for about a year now and it's really doing well. Like the others said move it to the bottom of the tank. But don't sit it directly on the substrate. I put mine on a flat rock which sits on the sand. Lately I have noticed two protrusions on it and they are hard to the touch. Perhaps it is propogating. I sure hope so.

Beatiful coral. IME I have not been able to spot feed mine, it doen't seem to hold anything, ciclopezee, mysis, brine, etc.. so I gave up. I do add phytoplankton and zooplacton once in a while. I agree with Shawnts106 they are low light coral and dont' sit it directly on the sand that could cause die of of the flesh from the bottom and cause an infection. mine is sitting on a rock. Here is a picture of my green gony, almost 2 years.

Waterfaller1,

I would be interested in your articles.

Also which would be the easiet to keep without much feeding?

I heard that the alveopora are much easier

I have a purple goni and I feed it reefroids. You can see the goni reaching out when I put this stuff in my tank. I also feed my tank phyto and cyclopeeze. But I highly recommend reefroids.
