Good books?

Hey, I just was curious as to what types of sea horse and/or pipefish books you guys/girls have? I have been doing research on the internet, but want something to keep at my LFS or just to have outside of the computer.

Looking for something with pictures and good information on species. Not so much setting up a sea horse tank (already have one) but info on the horses and pipes individually.

Links would be helpful.

Thanks!

Fred, I too have that book. It doesn't get into how to keep seahorses and pipes but does have a ton of pictures and some brief descriptions on their habitats. Should be on the shelf of any serious seahorse or pipefish enthusiast IMO. You will find that Kuiter differs with Project Seahorse on a lot of information.

Another good book just out is "Working Notes: a guide to seahorse diseases"

Thanks Dan. I guess brief habitat descriptions is better than nothing. It has been on my list for over a year, but other things keep sucking up my $$.

I am going to order the book that Debssisterflow posted. It seems to be very good. Has 1000 photos and over 240 pages.

I just recieved Seahorses, Pipefishes and their relatives by Rudie H. Kuiter and all I can say is WOW!

What a sweet book. Nice medium sized book with a BUNCH of photos and some descriptions of each kind.

VERY good book to have I think every sea horse or pipefish owner should own it.

Seahorses Pipefishes and their relatives is a must have. It is definitely at book to take to your LFS if you are tying to identify a horse or pipe. The writeups are minimal and the sizes confusing (it seems some of the sizes are crown to tail while others almost have to be body size) but for a general book with great pictures and information about what is available and basic habitat (i.e. sandy bottom, cold water, etc) there is nothing I have found that we use more (including the internet).
