i have read a few posts in other forums about having a good flow over the sand bed...but unless u have seashells for sand bed it would blow all over the place ...so how do u do it...i have three powerheads one that i cant really put ne where other then the top cause it dosent have the clip or nething for it but it would be nice to have a good flow over it to keep stuff from settling on the top layer

as your tank matures the sand will become covered in bacteria and wont be as light and there for wont blow around in the flow.

you dont actually have to lower the power head down to the sand i think the trick is to add enough power heads and flow so that the flow blows around the whole tank..

I had 4 maxi jet 1200's in my 55 and they did a pretty good job of keeping flow all over the tank... when i only had 2 maxi jet 1200's i would get cayno algae growing on the sand

right now i have a maxi-jet 1200, zoomed power sweep and an aquaclear 50 only the first two are hooked up im gonna have to attach my aquaclear somehow fancy since i dont have the suction cups for it..ne way thank u very much

i have southdown in my tank which is a VERY fine grade sand. anytime the angle of my tunze changes even slightly(typically when i remove it to clean it) it will create a sandstorm for a day or so. eventually everything will settle and you will have an uneven bottom. you may have dunes in some areas and barebottom in others. i kinda of prefer this look, seems more natural to me.
