Good HOB Skimmers?

Does anyone know of a good hang-on-back skimmer for a 75 gallon tank? I'm looking for something quiet and effective that won't break the bank.

I have looked at the Reef Octopus BH-1000 model, which uses an external pump. Does anyone have any experience with that model?

I agree the remaora pro that I just had posted with a mag 3 or 5 skimmed a 75 like crazy. just felt like joey was more experienced than me so I kept my mouth shut for a change.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I bought a used remora a while back, but it kept getting clogged, so I put it away. Have y'all had much problems with them clogging?

After your comments, I decided to dig it back out tonight to give it one more try. I back-washed it and then ran distilled vinegar through it for a while. It's running on the tank now, and it seems to be working as it should.

It's producing a good amount of foam, but it's also letting a bunch of micro bubbles into the tank. Will those stop eventually or is there something I can do to remedy the problem? I put a foam filter over the pump intake to see if it will prevent the nozzle from getting clogged again. I hope it works. It will be much easier to clean the foam filter than the skimmer nozzle.

IMO the remora is one of the best hob skimmers ever. I haven't had any issues with mine, other than the cup filling up to fast. I have been thinking about adding a drain fitting. I had a few bubbles at first, but once I got the water level right they went away.

I am very happy with the one I got from Rugdog.I did install the adapter for auto drain as I do all my skimmers(into 5gal bucket).Doing this I only have to deal with that awful smell about 1 time a week.Could be I am lazey.Actually with all our tanks I need every moment I can salvage. Thanks agin Terry and we hope you two enjoyed your adventure to Cullman.
