I have recently moved to the Memphis area. I have checked out Memfish and Kermits. Are there any other nice stores around the area?

I am in the germantown area and am willing to make a little drive to check some stores out.

Thanks
GJ

"Something Fishy" on Kirby Whitten Rd right of I-40 interstate specialize in salt-water and pond.

"Lil-Jonh" on Germantown pkwy and Dexter -- very little selection of saltwater ....

And I suppose we can add "Bob's Tropicals" to the list at Stage Rd and Covington Pike, but once again not nearly as good a selection as the first 2 stores mentioned.

I used tap for over 3 years with a conditioner with no problems whatsoever. The only reason I use RO/DI now is because I won one as a doorprize the last time we had the meeting in Oxford.

People always ask that when they start out and if you dont have access to ro/di you can get by using tap water and you might never have any issues ... but then when you do that you have to deal with all the variables you get from public water source

using RO water is just better husbandry imo ... my lawn grows fine if I just leave it to the elements and cut it when its time .. but it looks a lot nicer when I fertilize and keep it watered ... same concept applies here

the water here is high in silicates that will cause alge problems in the long run there is also small traces of copper and other metals in our tap water

I thought this was a discussion about fish stores but since its turned into a water discussion I suppose I'll relate my recent experience. I used tap water for the first year and half my tank was up with no real issues and then all of a sudden had brown algae all over everything. I switched to RO/DI about 2 months ago and nearly all of the algae is gone and my tank is doing better than ever.
