I'm engaged! This technically is not a 'reef user' post, but it kinda is.

Yesterday I got a new order of fish in. I spent all morning acclimating them, and told my girlfriend. She was so excited and wanted to come over and see the fish. I had hid the ring in the sandbed right in the center of my tank. The ring stuck about halfway out.

It was awesome. She looked around at the new fish and one of them swam right by it and she noticed it. There I was on my knee asking her to marry me! It totally caught her by surprise.

I had tied the ring to some fishing line to pull it out easily, rinsed it in a dish of freshwater and dried it off, and put it on her finger.

And there you have it, my friends. A reef - lovers proposal!

here's a pic of the ring in the sand.

Congrats! Cool idea.

Warning: that species that you just got are VERY expensive and can be touchy at times. Good luck!

This has got to be the most romantic, sappiest proposal ever!

I hope she doesn't become like everything else in our tanks: die, get bigger, or get replaced! :)

Here's to hoping she "fits right it"!

I got married yesterday myself as a matter of fact, The ring I gave her was a 2 k center with 4 -1/4's on the side. I know it is something she will love to wear every day (23 k worth) But all I kept thinking about is could you imagine the tank I could get with this kind of cash!

tell me about it! I thought the same thing!

She thought of it today. We went to a LFS in Dallas that has a lot of nice tanks and she realized we could be a good hunk of my 'dream setup' with that money! She's said something about buying me a new tank for our wedding - guess we'll see, huh. I won't get my hopes up! :)

Thanks, everybody.

A tank? That is a major down payment on a house!

My wife was perfectly happy with the ring(s) valued at 4K retail which I paid under 2K. (I know a guy that custom makes jewelry for stores that gave me a BIG deal on a ring I designed.)

Today my wife surprised me with a new blk dodge ram quad cab hemi, so I'm not complaining. Like another rc reader said... I found a sugar moma to buy me the tank of my dreams. Life is good.
