Good paint for pine stand???

I'm building my stand from pine and painting it black, then making a red oak top and staining that a dark red brown. I plan on a few coats of killz and then doing some body work/fill work followed by another coat of killz then paint. What is a good black low gloss paint that would work to help hide any knots and law nice and smooth? I'm more of a metal guy than a wood guy so any help would be appreciated.
