I will be visiting some in-laws this weekend in Toronto, Ontario and they live on Lakeshore Blvd. W. and I was just wondering if there are any good reef stores close by that I might check out while I'm there?

Hi,
Big Als seems to be a popular place to go as there are too many places. They got a decent reef setup as well as a decent planted tank that you need to check out. They are on Kennedy Road.
Another place is next to kingston rd i dont remember the name but its right across the beer store. I know the shop owners name is John.

What exactly are you looking for. That may determine which store is best for you.
I know of a couple in Mississauga and Brampton.

Mostly just looking at corals but unfortunately it's a 8 1/2 hour drive back home so nothing would survive the trip but I would definitely like to check some stores out but I don't know the city at all and my wifes in-laws are relatively new to the city themselves so probably wouldn't know where all the locations would be...are there any close by the location I gave above?

Looks like it's near some place call Sir Casimir Gzowski Park. Windermere Ave Intersects just a little ways before where they live. Does this help? Yeah, I did wonder if there would be any fee's and forms required to transport corals across the border...hmmm.

You are only about 7 KM's from Reef Raft and Where's the Reef. They are very close to each other. There is also a Big Al's near there. Those three would be your best bet.
Reef Raft's sign got taken down in a wind storm so it may be harder to find.
I would check out with customs before you buy anything. If packaged properly they should be able to make the trip.

I found out that the in-laws live at Waterford Condominiums. Yeah, i will check out customs before/if I make any purchases. What are the prices like in Canada for corals and fish (i.e.-if a Frogspawn costs $50 here in the U.S. would it be the $50 Canadian equivilant or more/less)?

I only really buy SPS so I have not priced much else. I would bet the prices would be pretty similar.
SPS frags go from 20 (small), 40-70 (large).
Fish go anywhere from 19.99 - 200.00+ depending on what you want.
The exchange rate now is about ~10%. So you get a little discount on exchange.

Reef Raft and Where's the Reef are the best stores IMO.
Both just had killer australian acan shipments last weekend, you might be able to see some still in the stores though they're all spoken for at this point no doubt.
Customs is definitly an issue, an stony corals that go across the border need a cites permit as far as i know.
