I want to buy an RO/DI unit but I am a bit on a budget. Are there any quality units that could be had for around $150? I have a 30g tank and only need roughly 5g per week of water for top off and water changes, so 60 GPH should be ok..

I got a small ro unit made by GE at Home Depot for about $150. It makes 10 g/day and it even came with a 3 1/2 gallon storage tank and a faucet. Works great, wish it produced water a little faster, but it's my fault..... I loved it so much, I hooked it up to the ice maker, use it to cook, coffee, etc.

It seems like there's allot of competition in the market and you tend to get what you pay for with these things. Buckeye, AirwaterIce, and Filterguys seem to be the 3 cheapest (maybe buckeye a little more so than the others...maybe) while still using quality parts. If your water supply doesn't have choloramines in it you can get by with fewer stages. You might be happy with just RO water even. I ran my tank for a couple years with just RO and it was fine.
