Good small hang on skimmer

Hey all....I am considering setting up a 15 gallon little reef in my room, and was going to get a hang on fuge for the back as well as a small hang on skimmer. Has anyone had any good experiences with a small skimmer like this? Do you even think it is necessary?

I guess if I do get one, one of the obstacles is that the tank is only 12" tall. hard to find something that short.

thanks

Perhaps look at an AquaC Remora. it is 17.5 inches tall, but from where it hangs it is probably ~12" from the bottom.

I will look into that....this is going to be a 15 gallon tank...do you think a skimmer is necessary? Or would changing about 2 gallons a week be okay long term?

Necessary?? no, but I would change more water weekly than that perhaps 5 gallons if going without.

Personally I would go with a skimmer and 2 gallon weekly changes if it were me, but smaller tanks often go skimmerless, but it is much easier to replace a greater volume of water on a regular basis than with larger tanks

I had heard in the past that it is possible to skim "too much" out of a tank. I just wanted to make sure that I wasnt doing that if I get this setup going.

I also am concerned about how much I am skimming out of my 65 reef. I only have to empty the cup about every 2 weeks....I only have one percula, one psuedo and a lawnmower blenny. Am I not skimming much because I dont have much bioload and only feed like every other day?
