Good stuff or bad stuff

I have a small clam (above & left of xenia) that is totally encrusted in the rock. He seems very happy but there is some white cotton-like stuff growing on the back part of his shell & also to the left. Is this good stuff or bad stuff. If it is bad, I need to get it out of there. Thank you for any input you may have.

Wow Mom! Your tank is coloring up great! I can't wait to see it next :)

Is this "white, cotton-like stuff" new or has it been there since we gave it to you? Is it growing much?

Additional input: We ran boiling water over some aiptasia a couple weeks back, and it's possible some of the water got on the clam.... But I don't think so..

---looks like a sponge. take a pair of tweezers and gently peel it off.

----are you coming along on saturday ??

Paul.

If it is a sponge, it's not a bad thing. No hurry getting rid of it if you don't like it.

Adam, that's your xenia in her tank :)

Thats the very xenia we have been lookinmg for to repopulate the frag program with.....(hint Adam.....).

Paul I might be mistaken but I believe Pet Lovers in Mustang has a bunch of that kind of Xenia.

Paul I might also have a few frags in a couple of weeks of Xenia that originally came from your old tank (the Xenia crawling up the glass).

I'll try to get a better pic posted tonight. My camera doesn't want to upload to my computer so I'll need to get a CD made. The white fuzzy stuff reminds me of Ich in a fresh-water tank. It is growing but not at an alarming rate.

Yes, I am planning to be at Saturday's meeting.

Yes, I am willing to share the Xenia as soon as I learn how to frag it. I have some small pieces that broke off in the move. I stuck them in little holes in the rock & they seem to be thriving.

OK. Here's another pic of the "clam fuzz". It looks like the fuzzy stuff is starting to grow tenacles that are about 1/4" long. Are there types of algea or other things that would be snow white & fuzzy looking... with tenacles?

Below are some other pics of my 1-month old tank. The last one proves that grape calerpa really likes dead coral. It's growing like crazy.

holy cow, mom! The coral beauty is really loving whatever you are doing! and your star polyps are invading the surrounding lands. (I miss Risk!) I am impressed! Are you singing to them at night, or just reading them bedtime stories? ;)
