Gopro black plus help

Fishy 1

The Reefer From Downunder
So I just got a gopro black plus and I have a few questions, when I try and upload footage to gopro studio it comes up with a : the video is corrupted or invalid: box.
And if I try to use windows movie maker it comes up with a: video is non supported file: box.
The card I'm using is a SanDisk ultra 8GB, I'm only using this card until I can get a SanDisk extreme 32 or 64GB card. But the footage plays fine on the TV.
Help please

Did the go pro come with some software to edit the movies? You may need to use their program to convert the files into another format. Just a guess as I have never owned a go pro although I do want one lol.

I have downloaded gopro studio but if I try to import video it just says video corrupted. Any suggestions

I picked up a sandisk extreme micro uhs-i card today. Its got a 80mbs read speed and a 50mbs write speed, the shop I bought it from said they use it with their gopros and they work great. I'll try and take some video and report back tonight on its performance:).

I was going to suggest the sd card. you need a class 10 to really keep up on video, and the newer software for gopro may or may not be compatible with the lesser sd cards like the old gopro (like mine) are.

good luck. Tip: dont go buy all the extra mounts....you wont use them. Just grab a few of the extensions for like a bicycle or ski pole, those will be more than enough to attach to anything (unless you just have to have the chesty so you can walk down the sidewalk without a helmet on,lol). And a cut ski pole, is a great extension of the hand, dont go buy the hand grip thing with a tripod...jm2c.

Thanks mate :) I don't think I'll get alot of mounts, the one I did get though is the head strap and I think for what I do its all I need:).

I took some video with the new card and uploaded the video and it was still choppy. Could it be that the computer is to blame?. I think I have solved the corrupted video box problem, as I just have to import the video and convert it into the right format (should I convert it into avi or mov? ).

I don't know lol. Try both and see what works.

If you have a slow machine your vid will be choppy and laggy. They are big HD files remember.

Did you update the cam with the latest firmware? Before you do anything else you should update it even if it was new out of the box. Especially if it was new out of the box I would say. Go to the gopro website and look at the support section on updating. Hopefully that does away with corruption of files.

You don't need to convert the vid files coming from the camera. I never do. I also only use the gopro studio for stitching together my timelapses and otherwise view everything in VLC.

I did update it when I got it. And if I'm lucky enough to get the video into GP studio the viewing window is white and the bit under the window shows what ever I opened last. It's driving me nutty:mad:

I downloaded contour storytime to see if that would work and low and behold it did! The video was a bit choppy but the program worked. So how do I edit with storytime?

I don't know how to edit in story time, but I've find with my gopro the main thing regarding playback is a) the computer's RAM/processing speed b) the quality of the video you have shot.

On my MacBook I can't get software to support video shot in 1440p, the processer is just too slow to support the most up to date software needed. It plays 1080p though just fine. My iMac is newer and will play 1440p no problem.

I record in 720 mainly and it is still choppy.

Without reading all of the replies, GoPros are very picky on the cards they'll work with. When I first started using my GoPro Black it simply wouldn't work, would overheat and not shoot video. I thought I had a defective unit until I contacted the company and spoke to someone. Turns out the card I was using was way too small and I needed a 32GB at least. I ended up getting a Sandisk 64GB and poof, problem solved. If all else fails, contact GoPro, they were quick in getting back to me and super helpful. Good luck.

Thanks mate :). I have got a SanDisk extreme 32GB and the camera seems to shoot video just fine with, I think the computer is just slow. I'm getting some software from that shop soon and I think that should solve my problem:)
