gorg attachment. Your most successful way

I'm reading several different ways. Strip the flesh and use super glue gel, marine epoxy, or just place in a secure hole. What have you done that has worked for you? Mostly talking about photosynthetic types.

if it is a frag that was cut off I strip the flesh and superglue in a hole...works great

if it is a colony I use epoxy on the base

Same here - Gary M. (tank of the month) told me how to frag them - works great. You can frag one strip into 1 inch pieces & start a farm. :)

I put a small piece of that clay mold type epoxy on a rock, mound it up, stick something sharp & skinny in it to make a hole.

The flesh is really easy to strip off I just use some scissors lightly to cut around the flesh & pull it off with my fingernails (like wire stripping) then I dry the "core" with paper towel.

Then I dip it into a glob of superglue & stick it in the hole.

Then in 3 weeks they look like this:

Just kidding of course :D that's the mother colony

As far as "most successful" - I'm not sure it actually matters that much I had a piece that I didn't glue on it's side on the sand for a month or so & I think it was growing at both ends if thats possible

Thanks - It loves cyclopeeze - I'm always feeding baby brine so I'm guessing it gets some of that. I've seen it "catch" mysis & adult brine, but I haven't ever had time to stick around to see how things turn out

Brett....do you strip the flesh, or just push down into the epoxy?

I strip the flesh. I start off placing a small blob of epoxy onto the end of the gorg then set it somewhere in the tank to cure. Then I place a 2nd blob of epoxy where I want the gorg and push the gorg with hardened epoxy base into the 2nd piece. It also helps if you reduce the flow in the tank as the 2nd piece of epoxy is curing. I've tried mounting them with a single ball of epoxy but it tends to push my patience level beyond it's limits.

I'm certainly not again superglue, but epoxy lets me place my gorgs in places regardless of where the nearest hole might be.

Sometimes I find it is easier to superglue a gorgonian frag to a tiny rock that I drilled for a hole and then epoxy that, instead of just epoxying the base of the frag...it works out to be a little bit sturdier mount for me sometimes.

I have found that my gorgonian like cyclopeeze.

Also I use super glue gel as it bonds better than epoxy and doesn't make my protien skimmer go nuts. just my .02

I use a small strip of mesh or wedding vail type of material. I lay the gorg frag over the rock, place the vail over that and rubber band the vail to the rock. In a few weeks when it encrusts take the rubber band and vail off.

Angel fish beautiful gorg. Is it photosynthetic or do you have to feed it. Do you ship frags?
