Thank you,

That gorgonian is a blueberry gorg. , non-photosynthetic. The second picture is a Cynarina.

Thank you for the reply.

So being a non-photosynthetic means it must be fed? Is it harder to keep than a photosynthetic?

Thanks,

Mikro

Yes, more difficult to keep and has to be fed. There are several types of photosynthetic gorgonians available that would be better, like the purple frilly...

Unfortunately, the blueberry gorg. is one of the most difficult to keep alive and is considered an "expert level" animal. Not only does it need to be fed, it needs to be fed several times per day which obviously becomes an issue with nitrates spiraling wayyyy out of control. Honestly, they're best left to tanks whose owners are not only experts but have dedicated NPS tanks.

The second coral, your cynarina, can sit near the bottom of your tank with decent lighting and medium water flow.

If you check out Drs. Foster and Smith, you will see every coral, animal, and invert etc. is given a list of requirements.
