gorgonian on zoanthid/paly colony

I got a new colony of polyps yesterday from the LFS. Believe it is a paly from Java rather than a zoanthid. Yes, I will post a pic as soon as my macro lens comes in (should be next week). The colony has a two branch gorgonian on it. The gorgonian is currently around 6" tall. Some of the polyps are in constant contact with the gorgonian. Both appear to be coexisting without problems. Better to let them be for the time being or try and remove the gorgonian and remount?
Second question: Around most of the rock there are small holes (average I guess 1mm in diameter). From these holes appear what look to me to be very small brittle or serpent star legs. The most I have seen extending from any hole at one time is four. All of the "legs" are predominatly white, although some of the larger ones appear to have black bands. I have looked around WWM, Zoaid, my library, etc. and am still clueless if these are a good or bad thing. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Subject will be in QT untill I can figure out. They don't seem to bother the polyps or gorgonian, except when I added a bit of rotifers last pm and the the "arms" extended and some of the polyps were touched and retracted.
