Gorgonian question

I have a rusty gorgonian that is in my tank, attached to a 5"x3" rock on my sandbed. Does the "foot" of the gorgonian enlarge much as it grows and will putting zoas on the rock possibly harm it in the future when they come in contact?

I've had mine for about 9 months and the base has barely gotten larger over that time although I've noticed the "skin" spreading out a little bit.

I've never had zoos near my gorgonians but xenia has never bothered it from what I could tell. I'd be a little more cautious of zoos but at least you can just tear them away if the gorg starts to act unhappy.

Correction: Mine is a purple ribbon gorg (though it's mostly brown)

The other is a yellow finger.
