I am glad you like it. The new osmolator is really a great product, I am very proud of it, alot of work went into perfecting it.

SAme here & two questions

Roger,
I have to agree. The Osmolator is just terrific.

As you know I am using the Calcium Dispenser option. I find that the one way "non-return valve" puts quite a bit of back pressure on the osmolator pump. It seems to reduce the flow by ~ 25%. You can also hear the pump straining more now that I have added the CA dispenser. Is this normal, or is it possible my "non-return" is out of specification? I have done an informal :) pressure test on the valve and it definitly is restrictive.

I am also wondering where I can find parts and a schematic on that pump? Can not find the pump in detail on the Tunze web site. I have done seaches using the pump product code: 5000.02, but nothing comes up.

Speaking of web site, few would ever dream to go to a tab labled "News" for an instruction manual. In fact there is more information under "News" for many items than under "Products". Now that I understant to go to "news" and not "products", the web site is so much more helpful. News even has links and advice on how to find more information. Who would have ever guessed?
Thank you for your help.

We used two types of check valve, if you have a flat donut shaped one made by RENA, this is overly restrictive and should be replaced, the new one looks like the Tetra check valve but is blue. I can send you a replacement if this is the case. The pump is not servicable, it is unfortunately an expendable part. Basically it uses a 9V dc motor with a direct drive shaft through a rubber seal. Once the seal goes, thats it the motor is broken. They cost less than $17 though. The straining of the motor is not going to shorten its life, only caustic materials that would damage the rubber seal can do this. Some of the problems with the website are language/translation issues. For example the catalogue says in the back under the SKU- Nominal Charge $3.00, an exact translation of the German would yield, $3.00 to be refunded on first purchase, their is no concise way to say this in English. News also has more meanings as a word in German, it can mean details, updates. This is a bit of a problem, English is actually the second best technical Language, German is a language that can be very concise and blunt with few words through alot of prefixes and suffixes. Both Website and catalog layouts only allow so many characters for each spot in a given font, this creates a bit of a problem and frequently we have to use a word that does not have all the meanings it would have in German.

Dear Tunze,

I have a DAS 60G with the H99 Filter and I was wondering which of the Osmoregulators I should buy, please advise.'

If this is a sump set up unit 3155. If it is not a sump I would contact Jimmy Walls at DAS, he has been working with them and I am not familiar enough with their filter models to say decisively.

Thank you for your timely reply! Here is a link to the filter I have since I have 80LBs of live rock I have removed the part where they have the prefilter foam pad. Is there a way that I could set the senors in that part of the filter and then put the bucket with the water under my stand. Would the pump have enough head pressure to move it up about 4 feet?

I know it can be done, but without actually having one of these filters I cannot say how or what all is involved. The normal installation is for the pump to be in the cabinet and pump up to the tank, the pump is capable of 10' of head presure so this is not a problem. Unfortunately the link gives no dimensions but because I have had people do it and while they didn't say it was easy I assume it must be feasible.

Thank you very much I had a talk with Jimmy and between the two of you I am very happy to say I will be buying a Osmoregulator!

If you haven't gotten a clear answer yet, this is what I did:

I put the bracket holding the level sensor in the last chamber of the filter, one towards the center of the tank where the ouput pump goes.
And I put the float switch for high water levels on the far right side of the tank in the corner. Keeps it out of most light, but directly references the actual tank level of water.

I have a 115 DAS with H99 filter. I took out the sponge, carbon pads and the foam roll. I then put a larger pump to recirculate more water.

Only thing to watch out for with this setup is either air bubbles from the skimmer, or rough currents from not having any foam filters. I was running more then 600 gph through mine without issue though.
I love the osmo, and highly recommend it for an easy setup, reliable, and most of all, I can TRUST it.

thank you very much I should be getting the osmoregulator in the mail this week! I will try to set it just like you said.
