Sunday morning my day started off by getting my forehead cut pretty good while wrestling with my Boxer and my Shepard/Pit mix. No stitches needed, per me not the wife, but I guess the dogs still won the match. After stopping the bleeding, I head down stairs and all 4 fish in the QT are struggling. They all look like they were dusted with powered sugar and look slimy. Of course idiot me didn't pick up Formalin from my LFS on Friday so I tried a 75% water change but over the course of the day, all the fish died.
I had been dealing with Ich, or so I thought, for the past week in my QT. Treated with Copper Sulfate and PraziPro in case there was anything else involved. Saturday the 2 Bannerfish, 1 Pearlscale Butterfly and 1 Harlequin Tusk were all looking good. Yes, I know that is really too many fish for my 40g breeder QT but they had all been in there for up to 2 months. The Tusk was added a month ago because it was gorgeous and a great deal.
This is my first real battle with disease in a year and a half so I have been lucky. I am guessing what I had was Brooklyn and not ich. I'm just ticked off that I couldn't do much of anything because I didn't have the right medicine on hand. I'll be picking up some Formalin today to keep just in case.
