well, I have wanted a clam forever, and finally got one. my LFS had the prettiest 2.5-3" purple with blue highlights crocea that looked amazing. I had to get it, and so I did.

so far, it has done great. added it to the tank after an hour long drip acclimation, opened up well within the hour and I got a few not so decent pictures.

so, my question is about placement. I have 6 t5s in a BB 75g and placed it facing upwards about 18" from the lights. is this a good placement?

thanks, and I'll try to get some pics soon!

that should be ok for now. croceas need the most light more that any other clam, so i would slowly move it up overtime to i higher placement. do this after a a week or two so that it has a chance to acclimate into your tank for a little. but remember, if the foot on the bottom of the clam is attached to the rock, LEAVE IT! that means that they are happy where they are and if you remove them while their foot is attached to the rock, it could be fatal.

ok, cool. it loks pretty happy where it is now, I'll start moving it up tomorrow, to give it a chance to acclimate for a day.

well, good news! just checked it (was curious) and it is already starting to attach to the rock! YAY! :D can you tell I like this clam. haha
