Got my head back above water, so to speak

Several power outages and a faulty test kit have lead to several deaths over the last 10 months or so. I've lost all my fish (including my beautiful maroon clown) and several corals (mostly frags, but I did lose my beloved elegance as well).

Surprisingly enough those, most of my corals made it through. I had some noticeable tissue loss on a few, but for the most part corals did a lot of complaining but managed to make it through.

This summer I bought a generator and have gotten things squared away with the tank/water chemistry, so now it's time to get back at it. Params are pretty stable (though I still manually test/dose alk/ca, so that's largely dependent on how thorough I am with the tank in any given week). Still battling the last bit of algae... some super fast growing fuzzy algae.

I took a bunch of pics today, more to document my tank at this point than to "show off" anything fancy, but since I took em, I might as well post em, right?

Full gallery is here.

Sorry to hear about the loss :(. But looks like things are heading on the ups!! The coral look great. Im a bit jealous of that pink goniopora. That looks awesome!

Hey Jackson! I'm in Vestal & I have some frags you can have if you are interested. I've got Blastos, Shrooms, Z's & P's, Green Hammer, Candy Canes, & anything else I can frag for you to help you out. Let me know if you wanna stop buy & grab a few.

Thanks, but I think I'm good for now. Most of that stuff I have, and I'm not looking to add more coral at this point. For as much as I love coral, my kids hate the fact that there are no fish in the tank... so that's going to be my first priority over the next couple of months.

Looks like things are moving on up :) I find documenting thru reef central to be extremely useful as well. Any Idea's on what kind of fish your gonna get?

Nothing is decided, but the list includes:
- Pair of white striped maroon clowns
- midas blenny
- 6 line wrasse
- rainsford goby

My kids would also tell you tangs, lions, batfish and more are also on the list, but that's why I have final veto power.

Since I'm bored at work and looking at possible fish, I figured I'd make a list as I got things narrowed down.

Potential candidates:
- Chalk Bass
- Midas Blenny
- Banggai Cardinal - do they actually swim/move around the aquarium???
- White Stripe Maroon Clown(s)
- Purple Firefish - love the color, but I'm not sure I've ever seen one actually move in a tank.
- Yellow Stripe Clingfish - curious why these are listed as difficult to keep
- Rainsford Goby
- Blue Spot Jawfish (pricey) or Golden Head Sleeper Goby
- Kole Tang (tank is probably too small though...)
- 6-line Wrasse

With that fish list it might be a good idea to get some sort of lid set up for your tank since i know purple firefish//blue spot jaw fish can be jumpers and they can be pricy investments. As for the Banggai cardinals mine tends to hoover quite a bit but it does move to many sections of my aquarium from time to time. I find this fish to be very different which adds a great variety for a any system.
