Got Stomatopod?

My question to you guys: Are you nervous about cleaning the tanks? Seems like a magnet cleaner is a must! You're all nuts, though I've got a perfect spot in my fuge....

I have a long algae scraper and also use tongs to feed him silversides.

I put the tongs in today to mess with him and he hit it hard. Like wheres my food ho:lol:

Ouch! There nickname is "Thumb Splitters" I imagine that is for a very good reason.

I could have sworn when i got into the SW hobby 2 yrs ago i thought there was an actual pic of a guys thumb split open from one but i cant find the pic anywhere on the internet i have looked the past couple weeks to try and post it here

mine smacks at my magfloat when i clean the inside glass.

i've hand fed her silversides, and so far she's been way more interested in grabbing a bite to eat than smacking the hand that feeds her. although, she does rear up in defense mode every time i walk up to HER tank. she's quite a character, she's been building, tearing down, and rebuilding her den for days now. it's fascinating to watch,

I fed mine a silverside tonight off a skewer. He grabbed it and dragged it into his den. He seems much happier now that I added a pound of live rock rubble to the tank.

I actually saw him running around outside tonight for the first time. I should get my light by next week and hopefully I will get some photos of him outside by then.

I just can't believe how cool these guys are.

While at Aquarium Concepts in Dublin today my, wife remembered to get Cuddles some goodies.

haha, she does look vicious! Good pictures, i keep trying to get some of Riddick but they all come out blurry...she is just to dang fast.

Hmmmm sump mantis!
Hey...Aren't those things perfectly capable of cracking a glass tank? At least

I think that would be my only fear of having one. That and well.....losing a thumb.

Nice pics, Mike! I just fed mine an emerald for the first time yesterday. It was over in exactly 19 seconds.

Well despite everyone saying less light is better. It seems my Mantis prefers to have a bit of direct lighting. As soon as I started getting some more light in the tank out he comes.

Right now I have a few lamps rigged up to shine on the tank, while I wait for my permanent lights to arrive. He has spent more time out of his burrow in the last hour than he has over the last 4 days.

Here are a few bad photos.
