Granovit

I am mighty pleased with the biodenitrator. I have found
that it is a great stabilising factor in my aquarium even with
the doc skimmer running. I have also found that it keeps
my aquarium cleaner of detritus as the denitrification is kept within the box. However my gripe is the Granovit clogs easily
and changing it is a messy affair. I have since changed to
ehfisubstrat pro which works wonderfully BUT it is not Tunze.
Roger, isn't it time to do something as the granovit
has been around for quite awhile and there has been new
developments in denitrification substrates.

Granovit is clay slag and it has a better pore size than ehfisubstrat for denitrification, Ehfisubstrat is superior for aerobic bacteria which break down ammonia and nitrite. If the water is prefiltered before it is pumped to the biodenitrator- as it is supposed to be. The media lasts years without clogging. If you read Aquarium Ecology it details all the medias tested before Granovit was decided on and explains why it is ideal for this purpose.
