GREAT BARRIER reef BLEACHING-

that is sad - unfortunately they are still also fighting the coral eating crown of thorns starfish as well - I caught the special on that a few weeks ago - I also saw one when I was in Bora Bora last year but did not know what it was at the time - should have killed the monster!

I think this is very concerning and of course tragic. I watched ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œthe coral reef adventureââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ last night and it was said that in approximately 30 years the Great Barrier Reef will die completely if the issue is not addressed immediately. I may be exaggerating but I see it as an ecological disaster which will impact marine, and may be other, life around the planet.

This is sad indeed....hopefully they figure out something soon to keep the reef alive and healthy... :(

we have already figured at least part of the problem out - stop polluting our planet! but that is too cost ineffective to be palatable for governments or big business - studies have shown that part of the reason for the COT starfish blooms is fertilizer runoff causing algae blooms that nourish young starfish and allowing population booms
