Great deal on a chiller

Well, it has come to this. I really need to sell my chiller to finance a weekend trip to Cali for our second anniversary. I bought this chiller from clkwrk for $400 last spring for my 120 gallon and it worked great and worked fast, but now that I have a 50 gallon, this is overkill. I'm selling it for $275 in hopes for a quick sale and it really is an awesome deal!

Chiller: $275
1/4 HP Westcoast Aquatics inline chiller. It is in very good condition and lightly used. This is the skid model which means no abs housing. It has a built in controller.

thats crazy .........This thing has the highest btu's of any 1/4hp chiller and has seen little use . Besides 5 years from now it still will be doing its job .

Sorry

Yeah, I'm not giving it away. $250 is already a great deal for a chiller that is $600 brand new. I would hold it until late spring and sell it for $350 if I didn't need the money. I might have to though because I've had two offers under my price and asking me to pay shipping and I just can't do it.

Thanks clkwrk! We'll see what happens.

I think $250 is a great price. Too bad I don't believe in chillers since I use my fans and they work fine. I am also an electricity miser. Shipping would be pretty expensive.

Yeah, with the 120 I just couldn't do it with fans alone. I think with the amount of pumps I was using and the fact that it was a corner tank (closed stand and canopy with poor circulation) made it impossible to keep the temps at a safe level.

My father-in-law said he read a report stating that this might be one of the hottest summers in quite some time. I think he said due to El Nino? A backup chiller might not be a bad idea. I think this chiller and a Checker generator might save someone's tank.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I'm glad I'm back down to a 50. Between accidentally unplugging my chiller and having the occasional power outage, I didn't like worrying about 120 gallons of livestock and rock. If I were to do a big tank again (which I'm sure I will eventually), I'd have to have a chiller because it was nice not to have to watch the weather report and keep the house AC lower than I needed it and worrying about how much heat my lights or pumps were generating. With the 50 now though, one fan on the sump keeps it from topping 80 and it doesn't cause a ton of evap so the chiller isn't needed.
