I ordered 88 lbs of Fiji live rock from Marine Depot live and it was great , very little rubble and quite a few large pieces. Also the 159.95 price is pretty hard to beat. The rock had some coralline algae on it and also a few micro brittle stars.
I have also ordered equipment from them and mostly it has been a good experience. I ordered an Eheim 1262 pump and an AquaC remora.
The only problem I have had is with ordering a CS80 Euro Reef Skimmer. I ordered this on August third and I waited 2 weeks before calling them. The lady I talked to was very nice and explained to me that it was to be discontinued and the backorder wouldnt be filled, she then said that I could wait for the new model which would be out in a few weeks but would also be more expensive. She then transferred me to technical support to help me choose another skimmer. The tech guy was also very nice and he tried to point me towards another skimmer that was in my price range.
The lady I spoke to told me that someone should have called me to tell me about the problem with the order but I did not recieve a call. That is not a big problem but there should probably be an email sent as a kind of backup in case a call gets missed. Also my other concern is that if I never got a call and I didnt call to checkup on the order than when the new skimmer is released would my credit card have been charged for the new item and plus some since it is more expensive?
I budgeted out a certain amount of money to buy the cs80 and a greater charge would have messed my accounting up. I went ahead and canceled my order for the cs80 but I wish that the Marinedepot people could have given me some sort of comparable product for that same price, since all the suggestions they gave are for more expensive skimmers. They offered me the next euroreef up (and also some other options) but since I didnt know that the I would be shopping for a different skimmer when I made the call I wasn't able to fit that into my budget.
This is not a complaint but just make sure to checkup on your orders cause I know sometimes I get busy or complacent and just wait until I get an email from an online vendor about status of a product.
