My order of the Fiji Cultured Live Rock arrived yesterday (one full day early :) ) and looks wonderful. How long should this take to cycle in my new FOWLR tank? It smelled pretty fresh and I didn't notice any die-off. Thanks for the great product and service. I will definitely order my fish from Liveaquaria.com when I'm ready to add them!

ericareh,

Thank you for your recent order with LiveAquaria. We are very glad to hear you are pleased with the gorgeous Fiji Live Rock you received.

The curing process may vary with each batch of live rock. In general it can take 3 to 6 weeks to complete this process, depending on the water parameters and die off. We recommend curing your rock in a separate container or new aquarium that does not contain any specimens. It is normal during the acclimation process for ammonia levels to spike and fluctuate.
Please completely cover the rock with freshly mixed saltwater, with a specific gravity of 1.021 - 1.025. Using a heater and keeping the water temperature near 80 degrees will speed the die off process. Providing constant water movement with a power head or air stone is also required for success, as is performing 100% water changes twice weekly.

Keeping the area dimly lit to prevent algae blooms is also a good idea. Please also gently scrub the rock with a new nylon bristle brush or toothbrush between water changes to remove any white film or dead material.

When the water conditions stabilize and ammonia and nitrite tests are zero, the rock is ready to be placed into the display aquarium.

If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact us. We have included our link for Rock Curing for further review.
