Great meeting, everyone :)

Great meeting, and great to see so many people attending. Lots of DBTC activity too, which was very cool :)

Thanks to Dan from Pacific Garden Supply for the lecture and the show-and-tell. Interesting info about SE/HQI, light movers, reflectors, ballasts, blowers, and more. And who couldn't be happy about the impromptu raffle donation of the Lumenarc lighting fixture :) That was more than generous!

Additional thanks to all our sponsors(and Karl!) for donating such amazing eye candy and other prizes to our raffle. Please feel free to visit their stores to say thank you in person. And as was mentioned at the meeting, it's great to prop and share these corals with your fellow reefers, and you can also prop and share them with the sponsors that shared them with our club in the first place!

Props( :) ) to:

Amazon Aquarium
Aquarium Concepts
Atlantis Aquarium
Dolphin Pet Village
Lucky Ocean
New Alameda Aquatics
Ocean Treasures

And special thanks to Bob and Robert of Aquatic Specialties and Pets for hosting our meetings at their facilities.

Much appreciation to the BOD, club members, and guests for making this a fun event :)

Can you post more information about this meeting in the future? I am planning to attend the next one =)

There's a stick at the top of this forum, and the BAR website forums for the meeting that just occured, and this is standard with every meeting. Meetings are never surprises, i.e. the week before "btw the meeting will be on fish gonads" or whatever.

Dan talked about LED lighting a little on Sat. I went by Aquarium Concepts on Sun and the had a LED tank light. Equivalent of to 150 MH. Can by programmed to simulate storms and everything. Only $2500 or so. Pretty cool looking though. Has anyone else seen it?

Trout, probably is the PFO LED fixture, and I'd agree with Dan, they're still about 5 years out from a good product. They have products sure, but metal halide good? Not a chance.

If you do some searches (google should be good) you'll find quite a few posts that this fixture is not as hot as it sounds. (no pun)

It was my pleasure, Norm! It was great to see some old faces, and meet some new ones.

Very informative meeting. I'm now thinking of switching to a 600W bulb:p Seriously, though. I was considering getting an electronic ballast, but have reconsidered because of Dan's comments:)

BTW, who won the copy of Window to the Sea?

What's wrong with electronic ballasts?

Also, is there a summary of meetings like this? For the folks who can't make the meeting. Just wondering.

Steve won it and then traded it to me Karl for my frag self thing. I sold out of the 8 once containers, but next time you come down let me know, I will pick you up a whole package. Or come to SF and give me advice on my clams. ; 0

Sweet! Sorry if I got greedy with the 8 ounce containers. Those should last me awhile.

PM me about your clams. I'm sure I can 'Cliff Clavin' my way through advising you;)
