Thank you to everyone for another wonderful meeting. I hated to leave as soon as the presentations were over, but I had other obligations that I was already later for. Thank you for the donation of the salt, one of which I won. I hated to grab my salt and leave, lol, but I had to get. Great swap, thank you everyone.

Yeah it was great. I went with my 4 item shopping list and managed to come home with 9 LOL. The zoas are already open and looking awesome and the anemone is out and looking good too.

I wasn't aware of anyone having any anemones, shoot, I needed one for my newest tank. I would like a large bubble tip or a carpet anemone, blue would be my choice. I am making this tank a clown/anemone tank.

Hehe there was only one. It's a rose bubble tip.

A great turn out again but we had a lot leave early so don't try to judge attendance by who was left at the end. I would say we had as many or more than last meet but we did not take any actual counts this time.

We discussed a few topics which we need to address here:

#1
Advertising of the next swap, we usually don't have an advanced knowledge of the date but we do this time so we should be able to really reach the masses for the January meet. I need someone to head up a small "comitie" souly responsible for swap advertisements. You will work in conjunction with myself and event coordinator to insure propper advertising of future events.

I can make and print out a few high quality posters but I need individuals from different area to agree to put them up in their hometowns. Again ask your LFS, I know Jim is good on it, Fuji and Barry cover this area. We need to reach deeper into the Huntington area as well.

#2 Duties for the next meet.
GREETERS-
I need several individuals who will be in charge of greeting members/new hobbyists at the door. We need some CVRC literature to pass out to those in attendance which I can possibly get printed out. If you are up to this please PM me.

#3 FOOOOOOD!!!

Food is a powerful force and one that draws crowds. I was pleased with the amount and variety of this meet. We had lots of good eats there. I need a volunteer to organize and initiate this phase of the meetings. You will work to create an appropriate atmosphere and feeling as well as designate what food types we may need (party foods mostly). You will work with the "Layout Coordinator" to insure a smooth flow of meeting themes.

#4 CVRC sign

The CVRC sign that Brian built is incredible IMO. We will be taking pictures and letting our community vote on which to use in the near future. The goal is to have the sign finished and unveiled at the next swap. We can raise money for this printing by various means we will discuss it further when the time comes in a future thread.

#5 DEMO/LECTURE COORDINATOR-
Someone to head up and take charge of the demos and lectures.
You will need to work with me and the event coordinator to scheduled and confirm the demos/lectures, etc... Once this is confirmed all future submissions for demos and lectures will go to this person who will forward the information to myself and onto council.

#6

Photo contest

We are trying this again it will also be in a future thread of official rules.

If you feel you can devote enough time and energy to any of the above positions contact me and I will make it available for a council vote.

Thanks all for a great SWAP!!

Ron,

I can actually take the making and distribution of the flyers/posters off your plate if you want as I have a graphic artist close at hand we can put to use. Just need the font for the logo and we are good to go. I can also head up things to get the word out if you would like.

Creating the posters/flyers is not a problem at all getting them printed & distributed is the problem. So sure if your up to the advertising end we can put it before council.

Thanks,
Ron

Well I was just thinking he can create and print the inital copy for reproduction and I can get it out to the other areas and possibly since he has the printing ability to print them out for this area.

Ron
I could help with the photo contest.

Or any of the other things for that matter just tell me what you need.

In reference to the demo I did. I figured out what to do with the "wasted space" on the mini refugium. I went and got some plastic hair rollers for my 55's sump. I'm gonna take a couple of them in put them in the empty space on my refugium!!!! So there you go bio balls for the mini refugium!!

I would be happy to take charge of the food. Please give a little more info on "Layout Coordinator". I enjoyed the meeting thoroughly and learned a lot from the speakers...thanks to all who spoke or had demonstrations.

LtPiper, it's not a rose bubble tip though it does look really dark in that photo. It's just a bubble tip. Sorry for any misunderstanding. It's attached to an expensive piece of Marshall Island rock, the only piece of MI I had of course. Are your percs showing any interest yet?

Lana

I decided to put it in the 55 with my Cinnamon. It's totally ignoring it as of last night. Course it hardly ever goes anywhere in the tank. It's really super duper timid. No problem on the confusion I was just guessing on that cause of the coloration of it. It's really dark under the LED's and the little bugger moved too. Only about 2-3 inched but it's now firmly entrenched itself on that rock.

Never fails does it.

Piper I'm so relieved you found a way to utilize that "wasted space" in the 'fuge :D Those percs really are coloring up nicely.

I think both Lanna and igosalt are perfect to head up the food end of the meets.

The "event coordinator/manager" will ensure the meeting runs smoother and that I and the rest of the speakers, etc...stay on track. This position is filled as of now.

Sounds good to me! I like anything to do with eating. I will help with the food and anything else you want me to do.
The meeting was great and informative. I was pleasently surprised to see name tags. I enjoy meeting the people behind the RC name. (It seems to be easier to remember people's name when it is stuck to their shirt! .....warmer atmosphere)
Thank you for filling in "between the lines". It helped me to understand. We are so lucky to have businesses donating prizes...nice prizes! We had discussed a photo contest....let's make it interesting! Let's make a list of photos we would like to see and a few wild cards. Such as: my favorite fish, my favorite invert., full tank shot, etc. Create your list and then use it as a guide to win the photo contest/door prize for the up coming meetings. We all like to see the pictures and it would create a library for the web project. We could work down the list monthly or draw it out of the hat at the next meeting. I had a snail on top of a glass thermometer last week and he wobbled for over a hour. His weight made it sink and the current made him spin slightly...he was stuck..and I was out of film. We enjoyed watching him try to get down! IT would have been a great picture if I was ready.
We can think up games and contests that are free (or of little cost) to educate and entertain all. More entertainment, more people, more fun...and more people means more food to try. Just a thought! Thanks everyone! I had a good time.

Okay all Photo's submitted can and will be used on the club web site as the site designers see fit.

Any objections. Tell someone who cares.

Now we need a PHOTO THEME for the next meeting.

How about "Favorite Fish."

Perhaps we can even print out the top 3 to display at the meeting and if you are nice let meeting attendees vote for the winner, as they arrive.

The door greeter could give out ballots as everyone enters.

Sure way to get an attendance count.

That sounds like a go! Everyone needs to participate in the list of pictures we want to see! Create the "official list" and as new ideas for pictures arises we will add it to the list. As we collect great photos of our own tanks we will have to hold on to them until it is the "theme picture of the month". More even playing field to judge!

What pictures categories do want to see? Start submitting them!!

I forgot to mention about the door greeter. That was a great idea and he is perfect for the job! I hope he will continue as our "Welcome to the Club " spokesman! A warm and friendly face makes new people at ease. Thank you, you did a great job!
