Great stores in the Twin Cities (Something Fishy & Saltwater Empire)

There really isn't the perfect spot to put this thread so I figured I'd toss it in an area where it may be good info to the people reading it...:).

I was in the cities this weekend and figured why not hit up a few places to see what kind of stores are available down there compared to Fargo. Fargo doesn't really have much so I knew it would be better.

Something Fishy was my first stop because they had the largest yellow pages ad...:). They had an awesome fish selection and they are the only place I have actually ever seen a captive Moorish idol for sale. They had two of them! Their fish and coral selections were fantastic and the person working in the store that I was talking to was knowledgeable and extremely nice. They have the largest selection of softies I have ever seen.

The next day on my way out of town I stopped at Saltwater Empire. This store had the best selection of corals I have EVER seen. The people working are extremely nice knowledgeable about all things saltwater. They are willing to give tours of their store and how they run the tanks. This is the only store I have EVER seen that quarantines the fish before they hit the display tank! I was so impressed with this store that I guarantee I will be going back.

People who live in the cities probably already know this but some of the rest of the people in the area may not. These two stores are a must see if you are down in the area. You will not be disappointed.

swe is really cool, another one is oceans devotion, it is only 5 or 10 minutes from them and they have awesome coral displays to. But fritz and ly at swe are really cool dudes and really are enthusiasts of this hobby.

I have been to the cities a few times with the intent of stopping in at a few stores. Never happened. Oh well.

But I have been shopping at a store in Rogers called Flip-n-Pets (formerly Premier Pets). They are between Kohls and Target. Semi-knowledgable people and the prices are where you'd expect them for a retail shop. But they did have a good selection of fish and corals, as well as live rock. They had a very interesting lagoon tank.

cdness Did you stop at a world of fish? it is only a block from something fishy its not a bad store nothing like SWE thou. its a little tight .

I'll have to make a stop at the other stores as well to take a look. It's always good to see what other stores are around. SWE is an awesome store so that one will be hard to beat, but there are always thos smaller hidden stores that have some of the really cool stuff.

Make sure to head down 35W across the river next time into Burnsville and check out Ocean Devotion, that is another really cool store!
