Green Algae on glass.

I have never had this problem before, but it is starting to drive me nuts. The tank has just finished the cycle and I had no algae on the glass even while I was running the lights for a few hours a day. Now I run the lights on the regular cycle and the algae grows like crazy. I can use the magnets and clean the glass and two hours later the glass is covered again and looks like I didn't touch it. My lights are 4 T5's and 2x150 MH. This is a 4 foot fixture so the T5's are 54watts each. Why is there so much algae growth so quickly.

It's a new tank, what kind of clean up crew do you have?

Are you sure it's algae? When you run the magnet over them does it look like dust is getting wiped off the glass?

I'm currently having that same problem with my tank. My tank is also new, but I put in a GFO reactor and it seems to have greatly helped with my algae issue! Just something to consider if you don't already have one!

Yea, it is definitely green algae, I have GFO running now, the CUC consists of ten turbo snails, one tuxedo urchin, one emerald crab, 20 blue legged hermits, 3 very large zebra hermits, 9 red legged and Scarlett's mixed. 30 cerith snails and 10 nassarus snails.
