Green algae on glass

Hello all , my tank has been up for about 5 years and I never had any problems with green algae on the glass but in the last few weeks it is out of controll and hard to get off
I do have some phospates in the tank but they have came down in the last month from 1.40 to .95
Any thoughts why I am having this problem

I'd say the phosphates certainly are a contributing factor. Even at .95, that's still quite high. Any nitrate readings? How old are your bulbs? Got a sufficient cleanup crew?

Phosban reactor. That will quickly lower your phoshate level, and over a couple of months will clear up a good deal of your algae issues. Start with 1/2 the recommended amount of media and monitor your ALK.

Your phosphate readings are really higher than you are testing, since the green algae you are describing is consumming it.

He said it's tough to get off. When you scrape it is it almost like a rock? I.e. could it be calcium based.. i.e. "green coraline"?

Your phosphates do seem very high, what units is that in? I've never seen phosphates at .95ppm. If it really was I think your tank would be covered in hair algae and every other nuisance known to man. Are you sure your test kit is working? Do you use tap water? Something seems wrong...
