Green algea

Iam have a problem with green algea on my glass. Its the same as the brown but green.. I dont have any brown just green? what is this cause from my rates.rites are 0 and phospate is 0..i use Ro/Di water. i dont no what the problem is and my lights a only 3 months ago..so i need help..

how old is the tank? if its new, its probably just a phase...most new tanks go thru a few algae phases

also, just because your tests read 0's doesnt mean that correct.
how old are your kits? also, maybe the production of the nutrients is taken up quickly by the algae in order to grow, so it reads zero all the time, but there is actually excess nurtients being made, ...

do you have a skimmer? fuge?

ya good point. What test kits are you using? I've found salifert to be the only one thats consistantly accurate.

Also, like he said, the algae takes up some of the nutrients, so there may appear to be 0. To be sure, test at night....algae releases its nutrients (nitrates and phosphates) at night when the lights go out, and then suck em' back up during the day. This is why the algae may appear to be dieing at night...but its really not. So test maybe 3 hours or so after the lights go out maybe.

i have a 20 gallon refgu berlin skimmer..everything was doing fine than all of the sudden green algea...the tank has be set up for 2 years and i never had a problem..my test kits are new i used salifert and the strips both read 0

did you test at night?

do anything new to the tank? add or remove anything? water change? carbon change? the crabon may be old and releasing excess nutrients back into your tank, so maybe change it out and see

also maybe add some polyfilter to your tank to help remove organics faster
