Green Anthias

Has anyone owned or seen a Green/Hutchi Anthias. I'm interested in getting one, but I'm not sure what they look like. Their colouration seems to differ in different pictures I've seen.

If you have one can you post a picture?

I posted this picture just the other day. I've had my Hutchi for only a week now , but already one of the first in line at feeding time... from what I have read they are one of the easiest to keep. I'm on the hunt for some females for my sub male

Is he grey?

They are not as green as that picture you posted; at least none of the males I've ever seen have been. They are a greenish/purple color, which ends up looking somewhat grey in pictures, with yellow accents on the back half of he body. Very pretty fish, in person.

Ok. So they are not really green. I'm looking for a fish that has a predominantly green body colour.

What kind of tank do you have? Do you need a reef- or invert-safe fish?

I have a brilliantly green wolf eel, which is a little aggressive, but not to fish it can't swallow. There is also a small filefish that can be bright green.

210g FOWLR mostly peaceful tank. Would a wolf eel eat a mandarin dragonet? And which filefish is green?

I don't know if a wolf eel would be safe with a mandarin. I've only ever had one, which I still have.

I got mine quite a while ago, I think in 2004. Until about 6 months ago, it was very timid, but it has had a personality change and will actually nip at my fingers if I put them in the tank. The change was really strange. For months prior to this, the eel was not eating, and was gasping heavily on the bottom. I kept waiting for it to die, didn't have the heart to euthanize it. I thought it was old age. After a long time, it started eating again, and has acted ravenous and outgoing ever since. Before that, it was very timid. It does not attack any of its tankmates, several of which are smaller/more timid, but it is now always interested in where its next meal is coming from...

So, maybe not the best choice for your tank. I have to admit, I go for the more aggressive fish.

The file is one I saw in a photo posted by namxas or seahorsedreams if the fish only forum (they are married). If I can find the thread, I'll link. I think it may have been one of the bristletail filefish (aiptasia eaters) that turned out to be bright green.

Here's a picture I found online. Don't know if these change color or stay this color.

How about a male green bird wrasse? They are peaceful and kind of charming.

ya, not sure about the eel. But thanks for the suggestions. does the bird wrasse grow very big in captivity?

It's also listed as aggressive.

I was also thinking of the green wrasse.
