Green Birdsnest Coral Bleaching

I don't rely on my LFS to test my water, this is why I own my own test kit. I only mentioned that to get the points across that my parameters are stable. If my kh is too low like you say, why do none of my other corals have a reaction to it? I've never heard of waiting an entire year for SPS.

Second, three months seems very young for sps corals. Might just be you have to wait to hit the year mark for sps.

Not true....Some tanks may tank longer to settle down than others, but so long as you have all of your params in check, and ammonia cycle is 100% over, you should be fine. I know a guy who had a zeovit tank with tons of nice sps in it within 2 weeks. I personally wouldnt, but hey :)

BTW, Im not saying that this is the reason, but IMHO, I would not run Alk at 9. Thats too high. I would personally suggest you lower that down to about 7.5 - 8.0, which is much more in line with NSW.

SPS are more sensitive to low alk than lps. For me, the lps were very happy just below 7, but the sps suffer and sometime stn.

Its not a reliability issue, if they are using the same test as you then its not giving you confirmation of stability. It is more likely repeating an error by the test. Read through the posts here about API and you will understand why we harp on this brand. Most who have corals try to stay away from API and use Salifert or other for testing. Especially for alk.
