About a week ago i purchased a new green BTA and he seems to be healthy most of the time but occasionaly his tentecles become elogated and sometimes even shrivel up! i was wondering if this was normal. Also my false percula clown has taken to him and they arent usualy supposed to do that! jus thought it was cool

perfectly normal--part offensive and part searching for food.
You have to feed an anenome--I feed a small raw shrimp to my rose anenome every other day----the tentacles grab the shrimp and withraw pushing the food into its mouth.
Some of the tentacles contain poison in the tips so extending the polyps is defending its turf

my lta is doing the same dang thing and its kinda weird but it does the day after it eats every time so im thinking its excreting!

It might be nice to say something new to those that have taken the time to offer advice rather than just bumping. Even if it was just "Thanks for the responses, does anyone have any other suggestions/advice?"

Ok i will then thank you guys i appreciate the info sorry for just bumping just wanted some more oppinions but i realy do apreciate it thanks for that web site it realy was informative

Thanks :D

How's your BTA doing? I must admit I've been really surprised by how much they change their shape during the course of a day. Such cool creatures!

At what point do they split? Mine has tripled its size in the last 5 months---waiting for two.
thanks
Scott
what does a bump mean anyway? does it mean your watching, you posted incorrectly, you agree, disagree--never quite figured this bumping out?

I'm a noob to actually owning a nem, but from what I've read they are more likely to split if they're very well fed... or underfed, but that wouldn't be recommended. I guess they split when the conditions could support another nem (lots of food) or things aren't so good and they want to double the chances of at least 1 of them surviving. I could be wrong, just my guess.

"Bump" is used when a post has slipped from the front page of a forum and you'd like to 'bump' it back to the top so more people can see it and have a chance to respond. Confused the heck out of me until someone explained it too! hehe

I look forward to the pics nanoreef... I love having a good nose of other peoples tanks :D

thanks for clarifying "bump"---I thought it was short form for "bum post." :)
Oh yeah--I know some people will jump on this one. :)

Looks pretty healthy to me, maybe a little on the bleached side, but nothing drastic.

What kind of lighting do you have it under?
