Green Clove Polyps

Looking to add Clove Polyps to my sps reef setup. I was wondering if this kind of colony is invasive, spreading quickly throughout the reef system, similar to Xenias.

Thanx

Ron

mine don't seem to like the flow in my sps tank very much. They were growing much faster when the tank flow was set up for softies.

my cloves have no problem handling the light.. almost 8 watts a gallon. maybe place them in a lower current area of the tank??? very beautiful coral and grows pretty quick if kept right.. good luck..

I know that mine were growing like weeds, then all of the sudden they just started to waste away. maybe there is another reason for that?

I have a single green clove polyp- It's doing well but I don't know how fast it would reproduce. Fill me in a bit information on this particular specie.

take a guess how much these colony go for at the fish store. or how about online.
Gorgeous. $99.00?? I can't get my cloves to do anything. They are scraggly.

Is that how much their going for? Wow, my purchase was a steal. I paid 30 bucks for approx. 70 polyps. The guy at the fish store wasn't sure how much it was, and the guy who knew the price wasn't there at the time so he said 35, I told him 30. and to my amazement he said OK.:) :) :)

While mine don't grow as fast as say green star polyps, I still keep them away from any of the main rock structure that you don't want them to encrust on or willing to take the rock out someday. Generally, I just leave them on the bottom on the substrate so they can't spread to the rockwork.

Definitely a good price. My lfs has a similar size piece right now for $69.99.

Let's just say that I was there at the right time at the right place.;)
But you know, 69.99 isn't so bad compared to online prices. Just don't forget about shipping.

Truthfully though, these polyps are beatiful, there worth every penny IMO.

That's a great idea, keep them on the substrate away from the main rock work. But you know, they ain't that hard to remove from the rock. just peel carefully. There pretty hardy.

Jeanniee,

Do you have any other soft coral in your tank? If so, if there doing good, then your water par. should be ok. If not check it. Otherwise just give it some p.a.t.i.e.n.c.e.;)
