I think I have what is cyanobacteria, it's green. This is also a color of it correct?
It hasn't covered my tank, only on some of my newly cured rubble rock (only 2-3 months old) where as my larger pieces of live rock that are 3+ years old, are completely uneffected.
I run my MH about 9 hours a day, I have chaeto in my fuge with an 8w fluorecsent light that doesn't seem to grow, and actually seems to be dying.
All the filters in my ro/di are brand new, so I'm sure they're running at peak efficency.
If I have chaeto in my sump, and it's not growing, but the cyano in my sump is, what could be the problem?
Perhaps I don't have enough watts for the chaeto to grow?
Everything in my tank is doing great (corals), but this cyano is growing slowly but surely.
I did a water change last week, but obviously didn't help too much. I will try and do another tomorrow, but I'm still wondering why my chaeto isn't pulling out the bad stuff that my cyano is feeding on?
I only feed my tank a few little pellets each day, and have enough bristle worms, pods and a few nausaruis & blood shrimp to eat it up so there shouldn't be much waste to produce any po4.
