Green flower pot coral

Hello all

I recently purchased a colony of Zoas for my tank which is fine. While I was there I impulse purchased a green flowerpot coral as the owner of the shop sold it to me very cheaply. This is a type of coral that I didn't know much about at the time and now I have done some research on this species and seen that they are supposed to be hard to keep I would like so advice on how I can make this coral thrive in my tank it seems happy enough at the moment polyps are extended and seems to be feeding when food is offerd but I would appreciate any advice that you more experienced reefers can give on this type of coral I have put a picture of the type of coral below this pic is from google not my colony.

Any advice or pointers would be appreciated. My parameters are within the normal range for mag calcium etc I can give specific numbers later if required and I have two mp40s for flow in my 100g tank

nice goniopora. i have both goniopora and alveopora in my tank for over a year. i fed them nls micro feeder and cyclop-ezee about three times a week before and they were growing but i got busy and now i feed them only once in a long while. so they stopped growing and also xenia taking over that tank doesn't help either. btw, it's a clownfish broodstock tank and it's skimmerless.

from my experience there hard to take care of.
your para has to be on point. not to much light not to much flow. daily feeding.
i had the same lasted about 1 yr. nice piece

Ive had my gonipora(flower pot coral) for just over a year now(I've read they typically don't live longer then a year in our tanks). I never target feed it, although I'm sure it gets some food from the general spot feeding I give my NPS corals. Strong light and medium strong flow is where I have it located. Its nearly tripled in size, until I broke a huge chunk of it off when moving it into my new tank. Now I have a large colony and a medium size frag! Both are still doing great!

What do you spot feed your coral I've tried to get cyclopeeze but can't seem to find anywhere to get hold of it

+1 for feeding it

I don't know that daily feeding is necessary if you are feeding the tank frozen, it might catch smaller particles in the food for corals.

Coral frenzy is good as is reef roids. BRS reef chili is a good coral food too. I think Rods has a coral only frozen food as well.

I don't feed mine as often as I should, but when I did regularly once a week was sufficient to keep it going & growing.

I keep 3 in my tank. Remember to feed them. They use very little photosynthesis.
