Green Haddoni going downhill

Im not really sure why but my new haddoni seems to be dieing. his foot is not attaching to anything, and hes laying on its side deflated. Ive had him for exactly one week now. he attaches to things, but then unnataches and rolls around.

here are my params.
Temp. 80.6-81.7
SG. 1.026 using refractometer
Cal. 700+
PH 8.1
P03 0
PO4 0
dKH 8.6

i was wondering if recovery was possible, or how long i should wait before removing it.

thanks
rob

Your pH is low, and your temperature is borderline high. Try bringing your temp down to about 78 over a few hours and the pH up to 8.4 over a few days and see if it isn't happier.

Has it ever attached for any length of time, or has it floated the entire time? What are you feeding, what size pieces, and how often?

And whoa, did I read correctly that your calcium is 700+?? If that's not a typo, that's way way high, I totally missed that first reading. How do you get dKH of 8.6 with 700+ calcium anyway? What test kits are you using for these?

thanks for the water tips.

yes it was attached for about 5 days, but today he decided to let go and roll around again. so i "planted" him again, but his stomach is poking out his moutth and hes seriously deflated.

as for feeding, i tried feeding him 3 times with cut up silversides, but each time he took them in and spit them out. others have said this is normal and dont try to feed anymore.

any other tips you can give me would be appreciated.

thanks
rob

i have a post in the chemistry forum about this, if you want to take a look

all test kits are salifert.

thanks

Can you get a picture? Sometimes when they expel waste (poop) they deflate and it can look as if the stomach is coming out a bit. Whether it's an acceptable amount type bit or it's dying is hard to say w/o seeing it.

If it doesn't eat one food, try another. I personally have yet to get any of my 20 BTA's to ever eat one bite of silverside. I feed mysis shrimp thawed in selcon, live baby brine shrimp, and fresh seafood like scallops, shrimp, squid, octopus (although I stopped doing that after learning how intelligent they are, just wierds me out now), etc., all chopped to about 1/4" or pencil-eraser sized.

I don't know that much about Haddoni 'nems specifically, hopefully someone else will come along that does. But those are pretty generic guidelines for most 'nems, as far as I know.

i have some live baby brine so ill try those. if nothing then ill try others. i will post some pics in the mornin when the lights come on.
