Green Leather Growing A Buddy

I know I have the algae issue on the back glass. Addressing now.

As you can see in the photo my green leather has a little guy growing just under him. Most of his stalk is on the same rock, but I think part of it is on the main coral.

Do I need to separate these two? If so where do I make the cut and how??
