I have a Green Monti that was Bright Green when I got it. it seems to be growing really good and at a good rate (has almost doubled in size). but the color seems to have faded quite a bit, what could be causing this? the closest corals (about 3"-6" away) are a Trumpet coral and a Pipe Organ coral.

Parameters are:

Salinity: 1.027
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
PH: 8.2
Phosphate: 0
Calcium: 460
Alkalinity: 8
Magnesium: 1440

My red cap did the same thing, it got is deep color back while I was gone for three weeks. I now run the tank with detectable nitrate also turned the skimmer down and let the gfo go for a month straight, I used to change it every other week.

The GFO is part of the problem, when I change it the cap stays looking pale again, so I meter the flow through the reactor, low flow when is new and increase it a little each week. My sps like a filthy tank, is annoying.
