green nepthea

Anyone have any idea if this is normal. Is it supposed to be slanted over like that?

In a previous post it was very closed up but it had opened and everything but it’s just so slanted that I feel like that can’t be healthy for it.

Has it ever been completely upright? Is there possibly water flow causing it to bend that direction?

How long ago was it fragged from the larger colony? How long have you had it? What are the PAR readings where you had it placed previously and now in it's new spot?

You mentioned it being very closed up previously: How long was it closed up and what other changes in appearance to its external skin (if any) did you notice during this time?

How long ago it was fragged I’m not sure. I bought it from my LFS about 2 weeks ago, the PAR would be the same I’d assume because it’s on the same depth. I didn’t really notice anything. It was closed up for about a day then opened up and was fine, it was kind of always slanted like this though.

I'm with griss on this one. If you've only had it two weeks, I would give it more time.

Where and how it was cut from the larger colony prior to fragging could contribute to the leaning shape. How it was "stored" in proximity to other frags and what those frags were could also contribute to its lean if it was trying to avoid any chemical warfare whilst healing and trying to establish itself on the frag puck. The shriveled appearance for a day after first bringing it home is pretty normal, especially if it was a fast acclimation.

They like moderate light of around 50-150 PAR. Higher PAR can cause them to not extend or open as much. If you have access to a PAR meter, it would cause no harm just to see what kind of PAR is available for it where you have it.

It was just moved from its previous spot but short answer is no, it had always slanted over.
There you go…moved.
Give it lots of time now with no moves.
Even slight moves will cause that.
Seems they are slow to reset themselves.

Never hurts a PAR meter.
The “stabler” the light interms of spectrum and intensity is paramount.
Changes will make them unhappy.

I do PAR easy….300 surface, 150 middle, 80-120 bottom, 50 in the corners.
And then I have not touched them again.

Enjoy!
