Green or rose BTA

Hi all,

I bought a new BTA I thought it was a green BTA but the base and tips are red so I am not sure if it is a green or a rose BTA. I will appreciate if you guys can comment on the health of it too.

Thanks

No comments? Oh well I like it and it seams like my clowns like it too. I try to feed it with prime reef and formula one but after an hour or so it throws everything out. Should I go with silver side?

Thanks again.

I hear most people feed silversides but i feed jumbo plankton i think either are fine. I wouldnt feed beef tho. i mean how often do you hear of a anenome feeding on beef of chicken or pork? lol
Nice anenome dont know if its a green or rose i'd go with green

He didn't say beef. You may want to re-read the post.

Silversides are a good choice.

As far as the anemone, not sure, I've never seen one like it. It does look healthy though.

Thanks guys, Yea it was prime reef not prime beef that would be interesting to try.

Here is another thought, I used to have another BTA and I had it for over 3 years and never feed it. So I know everybody in this forum are crazy about feeding the BTA but is there any one else experienced a healthy BTA without feeding it.

I might be over feeding my tank so the remaining food from the clowns might be enough for the BTA any comments?

I will try to post the pictures of my old BTA.

You have a nice looking pink tip green bubble anenome. Very healthy looking. The resident looks happy as well.

I had mixed luck feeding my rose. some days it ate like a fiend and others it ate and spit or did not eat at all. Had it for over three years before i gave it to a friend and shut my tank down. It seemed to like to eat about once a month. So thats about how often i ended up trying. btw the friend still has it and does not directly feed it and it is happy.

Thanks mrbncal
That is what I thought, The clowns carry a lot of food back to it and it seams happy so far. My old one was like that it was placed very close to the light and that might have kept it healthy. Later it moved below the skimmer outlet which occasionally released some particles on it and it was happy to eat those. I will try to feed this one few more times and if it throws them out I might go with the occasional feeding instead of every other day.

So it is pink tip green bubble anemone that is nice I thought they are either green ore rose. This is nice to have both colors.

Thanks for the info.

Ok I finally learned how to take nice photos with my new camera. I thought you guys might like this one.

Very nice shot with great detail! Thats one very unique BTA, but in a good way. I have one RBTA with some green in it, one green BTA, and 4 RBTA's but none look like that. I've seen a lot of BTA pics and have never come across one like that. Very cool IMO.

Thanks I hope it will stay happy in my tank.
The store I bought it was strange I bought one before without knowing that it was bleached and it died on me after a week and I try to let the guy know but he did not care. Then I saw this one and asked his assistant the price he thought it is a regular green BTA and sold it to me for $29 So I guess that made up for the other $30 I spend.

Personally, I'd stay away from that store. Any store that sells a bleached one, is a store that won't get another dollar from me. But they are out for your money, and we all learn from our mistakes.

However you new BTA, looks like it's healthy.

Beautiful BTA. I just recently got a rose to complement the green one that i've had for nearly a year now. The thing that they have always semed to like the most are pieces of raw shrimp (from the grocery store). I usually buy a small pack, cut it up and roll several pieces in foil and toss a baggy of the tasty morsels into the freezer, to be thawed individually at a later time. My BTA always devour the shrimp bits. At least I've never heard them complain;)

Thanks a lot,

I feed the tank with formula one prime reef and brain shrimp. and usually feed just above the BTA everyday. The pieces that are not immediately caught by the fish fall in to it so this helps to keep the uneaten food taken care off and also keep the BTA happy.

This weekend some lose rock fall on it. It seams ok but I am keeping an eye on it.

Here is a new picture

It might be a hibrid with more green than red. In any case if it is hard to eat just give it some time to acclimate. Try different foods, silversides are an option but they definitively love shimp (from the supermarket) and specially scallops. Cut the food in small 1/4 to 1/2 inch pieces and feed no more than two pieces at the begining until it gets accostumed to it.

mr_timluu it was my old tank and I did like that background but after a year it was covered with coraline algae and I did not see it a lot. Know I don't have anything.

jdieck I will try feeding it shrimp and see how it does, I want it Happy
