Green spots on my live rocks!

ok so last night i took a tooth brush and attempted to brush away the green from the rocks but it didn't come off. not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing. please help!

In the above link to a post, the original poster stated, like I stated, that green is probably the beginning of coraline algae, which is good if you like the look of coraline. He states it takes about a month or so depending on parameters to turn the purple pink color. Mine is similar but had a time when took a lot longer, alk and calcium issues, and when it took less time. Just watch it, if it is a nuisance issue starting you will know quickies if over a few few days to weeks no nuisance stuff, it is just coraline working. Just my opinion, wait and see what happens.

Like I said way back on post #2 if it's hard to rub off it's coralline. Remember I mentioned something about sit back and enjoy the color show of lime green to pink to purple and it will all be purple in the end.

WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE THESE THINGS THAT STARTED GROWING?!? they're these white-ish, clear tube-like things growing..
today I went to inspect my rocks for the possible coralline and these like suckas showed up.. anyone have any idea what they might be?

those yellow/green masses may be some kind of sponge or tunicate, I had a few on some live rock i used to seed my dry rock and i see little ones popping up on the rocks near the seed rock. Mine look like a really little ball of tangled string.

Don't you need some coraline in your tank in order to get more coraline?

Coraline just doesn't come out of nowhere does it?

Correct, it usually comes in on a frag plug or a snail maybe a hermit shell. Like I said sit back and enjoy the show, there are many new things you will see going on in your tank. :D

yea im being patient with that... but now I'm seeing something else starting to grow.. it looks weird to me.. they're white-ish/clear tube-like things.. i attached 4 new pictures above.. its not the coralline anymore.

Goodness. Watching new things mysteriously appear is the best part of a reef tank. Try not to worry so much. Sponges are cool. I think I now have at least five different colors on my "bare rock". Never mind all the different kinds of worms.

They look like pineapple sponges to me. Harmless, so no worries.

this is my first tank.. so my apologies for being worried.. i no longer know whats good whats bad.. i was reading and somewhere it said it could be aiptasia.. so i freaked out..

I am fairly new myself but I bought a smaller established, 2 year old tank, that was extremely neglected. It had so much algae and Aiptasia. I did that on purpose so I could deal with all the problems. Several months later it is a thriving tank and I am building a larger setup. Remember patience and do not panic. Typically anything growing is a good sign even if those things growing need to go and action needs to happen. It when things start to die is when there are serious problems. Just my own personal observations about tanks in general.

Wow thanks a lot for that info! You are absolutely right! I went to my local fish store and showed them and they said that it appears to be a sponge and I shouldn't panic as they help filter out the water.. As for the algae/coralline, it's too early to tell.. But even if it were algae that there are ways to take care of it and I shouldn't worry.. Thanks everyone that has commented and help me in any way possible!!
