I have had my green spotted puffer for a little over a year and have not started introducing her to salt water yet because I wanted to wait until after I had moved (5 hours). She is typically in a 20 gal tank but I had to transport her in a much smaller tank which she stayed in for almost 2 days. I did water exchanges everyday and treated for ammonia while she was in the smaller tank but she still has developed some sort of illness. Her eyes are extremely cloudy and she is very lethargic (just laying at the bottom unless I nudge her). She is normally extremely spunky and constantly begging for food and I can't even get her to eat. I have been treating with melafix with absolutely no change in her. I am scared of losing her if I can't find another option. I have read of using amoxicillin for fish and found a product with great reviews. Is this something okay to use with this kind of fish or do I need to go a different route?

I have not tested the water quality as a whole since it was a 100% water change when I moved her back into her 20 gal tank. Her ammonia reached stress level while she was in the smaller tank so I did about a 3/4 wager exchange and moved her into her big tank the next day when I got it moved here. Typically though she hasn't gotten sick from ammonia as long as I am doing consistent water changes. I think a big part of it may be stress from being in the car so long in a new environment. I just treated her for her 4th day this morning and am still not seeing any changes in eye cloudiness, her appetite, or her activity.
I have been looking into ordering Thomas Labs Fish Mox Forte (amoxicillin) because it has great reviews and results from what I have read. However, I also know that because green spotted puffers are higher maintenance fish that lack scales they are more prone to infection and what works for most fish sometimes doesn't work for them. Have you had any experience with giving amoxicillin to puffers?
