Green star never opened?

Calappidae

Harlequin Shrimp
I got some green star polyps yesterday and I put them in my tank... they have yet to open.. there is alot of bubble and green algae growing around the rocks its on that my sailfin, and hermits go for... is it not open because of all the activity going on for the algae or does it take time to fully open after acclimation?

After getting my GSP in the mail, it actually took over 2 weeks to begin to open at all, but I put that down to accidentally throwing then in the bin and getting them back out the next day... So I wouldn't be worried about then at this point, they're likely to still be acclimating to your lights/ parameters.

Happy reefin!

It just began to open a little bit.

The algae is all over the rock surrounding the coral, I see one bubble from bubble algae in the center of the colony though but nothing actually on the coral.

it opened a few hours after the post, figures  Is there anything that controls bubble algae? I'm avoiding crabs like emeralds as I already had issues with them.

pretty much the only way to get rid of bubble algae is manual removal. if they burst they will let out spores.

Well I have problems with GSP as well. I don't have algae problems. I tries to move it to different places in the tanks with low, high flow and light, but nothing changes. Its been already two months and just partially opens. Regards

I'm still having the same problem... it opened.. but when I moved it to my 10 gallon mini reef only 5-6 heads will open up...

It is time to beef up your clean up crew. Add hermits snails and I read somewhere that the court jester goby dines on bubble algae. O yeah and check your ph if it is low this can also cause problems with stars from opening.

In my case I don't think I have problems with parameters. I have this other GSP colony and its doing great. This is a different type of GSP. Just take a look
