Green star polyp covering cc

I received a candy cane from a friend but it's covered with green star polyps. How can I get them off without killing the candy cane?

As you can see the problem.

I agree, I doubt if they'd hurt your Caulastrea.

they can hurt the candy cane coral. my candy cane has the same problem in a small area. if you dont want the GSP then remove them now.

It's not a matter of the GSP hurtng the CC through stinging. The GSP will just grow over the CC polyps though which will not be good for the CC. Take an x-Acto knife to the GSP to scrape them off.

once you start peeling, they should peel right off pretty easy in a few pieces.

Yep. The GSP will grow right over the living CC polyps. Trust me on this.

I've had hair algae nearly that bad before...it's easier to get rid of than GSP! :eek2:
